URPoint Details
An ideal starting point to visit the Monadhliath Mountains where a track from the village climbs through wild and barren scenery, past the Calder River to Loch Dubh, and the massive Carn Ban at 3087ft where eagles fly.
A Speyside resort situated at the foot of the Monadhliath mountains to the west and with great views of the Cairngorms.
Three miles southwest off the road leading towards Drumgask and Loch Laggan near the meeting point of the Spey and the Truim is the site of the clan battle which took place in 1386.
The site is overlooked to the north by Craig Dhu standing at 2,350ft a gathering place for the Clan Macpherson.
In a cave on the steep cliffs of the hill, Cluny Macpherson hid for some years after the rebellion of 1745.
