An attractive town on the banks of the River Cree, which has a livestock market and woollen mills where you can watch mohair rugs and scarves being made.
Cree Bridge is a granite bridge built in 1813 to replace one swept away in a flood.
To the south are the 16th century ruins of Garlies Castle.
To the southeast on the Creetown road is the entrance to the pretty Bargaly Glen with its Palnure Burn and overlooked to the east is Cairnstone of Fleet rising 2,331ft.
