Newton Blossomville

Newton Blossomville , England

URPoint Details

The village name is derived from an old Norman family, the de Blossvilles who owned the village after William the Conqueror’s daughter Judith was deprived of it and left to found a nunnery at Elstow.

There are signs of earlier settlement however as Roman coins and pottery fragments have been found on the river banks.
If you take the A428 from Bedford towards Northampton and turn left at Turvey along Newton road, up the hill and along the banks of the River Ouse, you will find this charming little village on the Buckinghamshire border.

Jordans a house on the right celebrated its 400th anniversary in 1988.

The church of St Nicholas was first built in the 12th century. Near the church is the Sunday School built in 1822 by the Reverend Gould ‘at his own expense’ for 50 children.
