Very attractive village on the River Cam, mentioned in the Domesday Book has many fine timbered houses.
The Crown House is dated 1692 and Monk's Barn house is 15th century.
The Free Grammar School began in 1588 and was founded by Mistress Joyce Frankland who had lost her only son in a horse riding accident. His memorial has lasted over 400 years with the present building dating from 1876.
