URPoint Details
The town is a very busy cross channel port, and has a boat marina, fishing fleet and boat building yards.
There are some fine buildings in Newhaven including the parish church of St Michael dates from the 12th century, the swing bridge over the harbour dates from the 17th century and the Bridge Hotel is where supposedly King Louis Phillippe of France stayed after fleeing France in 1848.
