New Lanark is the best example in Scotland of an industrial heritage village, founded in 1785 by Scottish industrialist David Dale. It was the scene of early social experiments by Dale's son-in-law Robert Owen whose far-reaching ideas on the care of his worker's and the formation of man's character made New Lanark famous.
The award winning Centre gives you a glimpse of life under Owen's paternalistic management, especially through ‘The Annie McLeod Experience' an innovative dark ride into 1820. Also includes the mill-worker's house, village store, and Robert Owen's house.
