The 14th century Church of St Mary was built by the Stanley family who lived at nearby Alderley Park, and their pew is on the first floor.
The font also dates from the 14th century, and was buried in the graveyard during Cromwell’s times and there it lay unforgotten until 1821 and restored.
One old Bible called the ‘Vinegar’ Bible of 1717, in which is misprinted and reads ‘the parable of the vinegar’ instead of vineyard.
