Nell Gwyn/Gwynne was born in Hereford on 2 February 1650.
She was an actress and long-time mistress of Charles II. In February 1671, Nell moved into a brick house at 79 Pall Mall, the property was owned by the crown and its current resident was instructed to transfer the lease to Gwyn. It would be her main residence for the rest of her life. In both March & May 1687, Gwyn suffered a stroke and she was confined to her bed in her Pall Mall house.
Nell Gwyn died from apoplexy "almost certainly due to the acquired variety of syphilis" on 14 November 1687.
