Open April to end October; Sunday to Thursday (but open Easter weekend & daily in July and August); 10.30am-5pm (last admission 4.30pm). Admission charge; children & dogs must be supervised at all times because of the cliffs; shop; tearoom; dogs welcome on leads only.
A Victorian coastal fort built in 1862, 25oft above sea level. A 200ft tunnel leads to spectacular views of Needles Rocks, lighthouse and Hampshire and Dorset coastline. Two original Rifled Muzzle Loader gun barrels are mounted on carriages in the parade ground, and the Laboratory, Searchlight Position and Position Finding Cells have been restored.
