URPoint Details
A village near the source of the Nene, Avon and the Welland and the site of the battle in 1645 in which the fate of Charles I was determined. A stone column north of the village commemorates the battle.
In the churchyard is a huge metal ball retrieved from a building destroyed in the French Seige of Boulogne 1544 and brought to England by Sir Gyles Allington, Master of Henry VIII’s ordnance.
