The Highlands and the Lowlands meet here in this lovely old royal burgh and county town with its old Town Cross.
An old Royal Burgh on the Moray Firth with lovely sandy beaches, golf courses, fishing in the rivers Nairn, Findhord, Lossie and Spey.
The Old Town Cross in the High Street at the east end of town leads down to the picturesque Fishertown.
Dulsie Bridge, 12 miles southeast is a small but beautiful spot on the River Findhorn.
Rait Castle, built by the Comyn family in the 13th century and abandoned by 1442, when the Comyns were all slain by the Mackintoshes at a banquet, but were killed instead by their guests.
