A Franciscan Friary founded in the 15th century is still remarkably intact. The tower was added after the church and is the only Franciscan tower in Ireland which is as wide as the church. The cloister is complete and an old yew stands in the centre. The monks were finally driven out in 1652 by Oliver Cromwell.
