URPoint Details
A quiet and peaceful village near the Gloucestershire border has two delightful manor houses Hellens and Homme House dating from 1623.
The village has an unexplained phenomenon. On February 17, 1575, the village began to move and did so for another three days. This strange movement of a mass of soil and rock, about 25 acres, uprooted trees and hedges, killed cattle and sheep and destroyed a small chapel in its path. The chapel bell was found 265 years in a field. The cause of this upheaval, moved the hill about 400 yards.
