URPoint Details
Situated near the River Don, the village was rebuilt by Sir Archibald Grant and further remodelled in the 1890. The cottages were given an extra storey and the thatch was replaced by slate.
In 1170 the Earl of Mar built a priory here but after the Reformation the priory chapel was turned into a parish church. It has a great crenallated tower at one end, and is built of pinkish granite with facings of Kildrummy sandstone.
