URPoint Details
The village was granted a charter in 1636, but only the 17th century Mercat cross remains from that period.
Cairn Water is formed here by the confluence of the Craigdarroch and Dalwhat waters and the Castlefairn Burn.
There is a monument to James Renwick a resident of the town who was the last Covenamter to be executed on the 17th February 1688.
