Glenn Miller had associations with this village where the USA air force held its headquarters in the village hall.
There are some lovely houses including Milton House, The Gables and Milton Hall which was used during World War II.
The church has a 13th century tower and coloured roof bosses and some fine screen work. The vicarage dates from the 17th century and Sir Edmond Turner built almshouses in 1695, and were rebuilt in 1965.
