URPoint Details
Merseyside has more to offer than you can ever imagine with the lively cosmopolitan city of Liverpool, the Victorian seaside town of Southport, famous racecourse of Aintree (home of the Grand National), and many famous golf courses. Yet more than half of Merseyside's land is agricultural and there are a number of open spaces and country parks as well as internationally acclaimed sites for migatory wading birds, red squirrels and natterjack toads.
The mighty Mersey River (Gerry and the Pacemakers) was also more famous as the last port of call for migrants to America early last century.
Of course a visit to Liverpool would not be complete without exploring at least one of the haunts of 'The Fab Four' or enjoying one of the many tours. The Beatles Shop in the city centre is open 'Eight Days a Week'.
Also worth a visit if you are into soccer and that is to Anfield, home of the Liverpool Football Club.
