St Mary's Church is the largest and most stately parish church in Leicestershire, noted for its fine stained glass, unusual transepts and 100ft tower. Parts date from 1170, Sir Malcolm Sargent was organist and choirmaster here from 1914 to 1924. Especially fine is the 48 windowed clerestory stretching not only the entire length of the nave but also around both double aisled transepts and dating from the 15th century.
