This magnificent Abbey was founded in 1136 by David I and has some of the most elegant and elaborate stonework to be found.
At one time probably the richest abbey in Scotland whose 14th to 16th century remains retain a unique elegance.
The heart of Robert Bruce is said to have been interred under the East window of the chancel after it had been brought back from Spain.
Yet another bitter war between the Scots and the English ravaged this beautiful ruin.
You can climb the steps to the roof for a wonderful view of the surrounding area.
