Disabled visitors may be set down outside (double yellow lines). Main entrance to house has six steps, alternative side entrance available for wheelchair users, with 2 high steps. All ground floor rooms are accessible to wheelchair users, though some floor surfaces are uneven, steep staircases with wooden handrail to first floor seats available. Special tape tour included in admission price furnishings may be touched; there are hazardous low doorways and beams. Tape tour with hearing loop included in admission price; script also available. Adapted unisex WC with level access through side gate.
The life of a prosperous merchant in the Middle Ages is vividly evoked by the brightly painted cabinets and chests, and colourful wall hangings authentically recreated for his faithfully restored 13th century town house, originally built as a shop and home for wine merchant John Fortin.
