Medbourne

URPoint Details

Originally a Roman settlement where the Gartree Road crossed a tributary of the River Welland. The medieval bridge together with stone cottages, large elegant houses and leafy walks combine to make the village one of the most picturesque in the Welland Valley.
Situated where the Gartree Road crossed a tributary of the River Welland, the village site has been occupied since Roman times.
The dignified Church of St. Giles set within its wooded graveyard dominates the village centre. Close by is a medieval bridge crossing the stream which bubbles through the village. The path beside the brook provides an attractive walk to one of the village pubs - the Neville Arms. With its dovecote and ducks, this is always a popular resting place.
