URPoint Details
Overlooking the town is the curious McCaig’s Folly an unfinished granite structure, built in the 1890’s by a local banker, who tried to curb unemployment by using local craftsmen to build the tower as a memorial to his family.
Its walls are 2ft thick and from 30-47 ft high.
The courtyard within is landscaped and the tower is floodlight at night in summer.
