URPoint Details
The thatched cottages cluster in the valley of Allen Water at the foot of the downs.
To the southwest, 2 ancient boundaries can be seen crossing Martin Down. The oldest of these is part of Grim’s Ditch, marking the southern edge of a bronze and Iron Age cattle ranch. More prominent is the 6ft rampart of Bokerley Dyke, a Romano-British defence against the invading Saxons.
