On approaching the village from any direction the 14th century church of St Mary's is visible standing on a small rise surrounded by ancient trees.
There are two village ponds, and a third appears after heavy rain. The ducks are well protected here by signs which help the new additions to cross the roads.
In the summer tourists by the coach load feed the ducks and in the winter the local butcher takes over the role, some of the locals break the ice on the ponds so that the ducks can have a swim.
Shopping in this delightful little village is a pleasure and the shopkeepers are very friendly.
There are numerous paths to walk and the River Thurne is about one mile away.
Martham Broads is a very relaxing and restful place.
