URPoint Details
The church is 15th century with an oak font and oak board tower. The tower was rebuilt after a cannon ball hit it during the siege of Colchester in 1648.
The village in Saxon times was once owned by Uleric.
Geoffrey de Mandeville also owned it and named it Tey (meaning elms) Mandeville.
Later the village was rented to a family called de Marks and later became known as Marks Tey.
