A great Cistercian abbey founded in 1157 by Robert, Earl of Gloucester, the late Norman nave still remains incorporated in the Parish Church.
The walls, columns and arches of the beautiful 13th century Chapter House with its twelve sided outside and circular inside with a central pier and a vaulted vestibule.
