URPoint Details
St Wendreda's Church (Cambridgeshire Historic Churches Trust). John Betjeman said "worth cycling forty miles into a head wind" to see.
The 14th-16th century church is widely used by photographers and has a delightful interior. The church has a lightness and Perpendicular dignity which befits a town church. The angel roof is breathtaking with its 16th century double-hammer beam roof with tiers of 120 carved angels with open wings finely carved in oak on the trusses and also on the king posts and cornices.
It is spectacular and regarded as amongst the finest in Britain.
