Manorbier Castle

A beautiful and complete mostly Norman baronial residence with a garden courtyard, surrounded by a chapel and residential apartments.

The inner ward is surrounded by a curtain-wall with a gatehouse on the east side.

The little road up to the entrance certainly sets the scene for what you will find inside the impressive walls.

The de Barri family, Norman barons, built the Castle and it was always more a baronial residence than a fortress.
