One of the oldest boroughs in England, this attractive small town is built mostly in stone, situated on the southern edge of the Cotswolds, Malmesbury was well established in the 17th & 18th centuries, as a centre of prosperity for weaving.

It features a medieval octagonal market cross which overlooks a small square its 12 metre high cross is regarded as one of the best in England.
The Old Bell Inn has a 13th century window and was probably part of the old castle.
The White Lion may have been one of the buildings belonging to the abbey.
The St John's Almshouses also have a 13th century window.
