The county town of Kent, beside the River Medway is a charming and busy rich pastoral area and is often referred to as 'the Garden of England'.
From Saxon times the town has steadily grown from a market centre through a weaving and crafts period, but all the time having religious connections.
From AD 975 till the 16th century The Archbishop's of Canterbury had their country home here at the Manor House beside the Medway.
