This is the finest Iron Age hill fort in Britain and although the earthworks are enormous, with a series of ramparts and complicated entrances, they could not prevent the castle's capture by the Romans about AD43.
A maze of miniature wild-grass ravines with sides up to 90ft high and enclose a flattish hill top of about 100 acres.
