MacDuff Marine Aquarium
URPoint Details
The aquarium has been developed around a unique central tank, the deepest in the UK at 5 metres, holding well over a quarter of a million litres of seawater. The aquarium concentrates on the marine life of the Moray Firth.
The tank also features a kelp forest with associated flora and fauna, offering visitors a view of the sealife beneath the Moray Firth usually only seen by divers.
The Aquarium's diving team hand feed species such as conger eels and wolf fish, and visitors will also be able to hear a commentary too, thanks to a tiny microphone built into their bubble helmets.
In addition to the central tank, the Marine Aquarium offers a large ray pool, a variety of touch pools and a surge tank, as well as static wet and dry displays and a wet lab area for children.
