A village with an old church the oldest in Scotland.To the north are the twin Meldon hills facing each other across a narrow road leading to Eddleston.
Farther north, and to the west of this road Crailzie Hill rises to 1,561ft with the interesting Harehope Rings a fort which measures 190ft by 180ft within double ramparts and a medial ditch of the prehistoric Harehope Fort.
To the south and across the River Tweed is Barns Tower dating from 1488 and still retains its iron yett.
