The parish is locally called Lydbury and there is no settlement called Lydbury South, a peaceful village with a great Norman church.
Walcot Hall is an 18th century mansion is red brick and has two storeys and was the home to Clive of India.
Plowden Hall home of the Plowden family is an Elizabethan manor with Jacobean additions.
The Church of St Michael has beautiful rich medieval carvings and the high altar candlesticks are dated 1650.
The Normans built the church in a cruciform shape, the west tower dates from the 13th century. There is a timbered south porch and early 17th century box-pews and pulpit. Bove the rood screen are the Commandments and Creed in painted lettering dated 1615.
