Luton

The Saxons settled here near Biscot Mill on the north side of the city and the moat house is the one surviving example of its kind.

Once renowned for its straw hat industry which grew in the 17th century, the town has become a centre for modern industry including car manufacturing. museums and beautiful parks with animal and bird-life to visit.

Visit the fashionable 'Plaiters Lea' conservation area, the famous Luton Shopping Centre and the lovely parkland of Wardown and Stockwood parks.

St Mary's church founded in 1131, is built of chequered flint and limestone and is the largest church in the county and one of the finest medieval churches in England. Set in the heart of Luton, Bedfordshire's largest town, this conspicuous, mainly Perpendicular building has a fine font, monuments and screens.
