Ludlow

Ludlow , England

URPoint Details

In Tudor times the town was the capital of the Welsh Marches.

There are some fine buildings including the Angel Hotel a splendid coaching inn, the 16th century Feathers Hotel, and the 18th century Hosyer’s Almshouses. The Butter Cross was built in 1746.

It was here in 1509 that Arthur, eldest son of Henry VII, brought his wife Catherine of Aragon. His death a few months later changed the course of English history for his brother became Henry VIII and he then married Catherine.
