Two villages made up of Higher and Lower Bockhampton.
Lower Bockhampton is the prettier of the two villages and is where Thomas Hardy went to school. When he died in 1928 his heart was buried in the churchyard at Stinsford (2 miles south), and his ashes are in Westminster Abbey.
