Estate: open at all times. Visitor Centre, shop and cafe: open weekends all year including Bank Holiday Mondays 11am-5pm or sunset if earlier. Also open Wednesday, Thursday from mid-March. Admission free car park dogs on leads only, not allowed in Visitor Centre. Disabled parking: Woodcroft car park is nearest to facilities and provides reasonable access, considering the gradient one designated space next to Visitor Centre, must be booked in advance. Wheelchair access to Visitor Centre. Toilets, rear of Visitor Centre cafe, shop and information centre have easy access thick handled cutlery available wheelchair available.
1700 acres of open moorland, woodland and farms in the Peak National Park with dramatic views. Stone for the Derwent and Howden Dams was quarried from Bolehill, and millstones may be seen in quarries on the estate. There is a quarry-winding house above Grindleford station.
