URPoint Details
A near neighbour of Thame and across the Oxfordshire border, Long Crendon is a large and very interesting village that in past times was a flourishing centre for needlemaking.
From 1422 manorial courts were held here at the splendid half-timbered 15th century Court House, now owned by the National Trust.
There are many other half-timbered buildings in the Square and High Street with the 15th century stone gatehouse of Long Crendon Manor notable among them.
The large and cruciform church is largely early English style.
It has a splendid beamed chancel roof and 17th century carved screens.
