Rare plants and sub-tropical trees flourish in the walled gardens, due to the Gulf Stream and a sheltered position. In Logan Bay is a tidal fish pond built in the 18th century.
The sea fish are tame, and cod can be fed by hand when called by a bell.
Logan House was for many centuries the home of the McDoualls, a family of Pictish origin.
