URPoint Details
A Victorian town with fine views of extensive hills more than 2000ft high and known as Argyll's Bowling Green, which form part of the vast Argyll Forest Park in the Cowal peninsula.
The park founded in 1936, stretches across the peninsula almost to Loch Fyne.
To the northwest is the rocky and lonely Hell's Glen, a forbidding pass crossing the hills to Loch Fyne.
To the northeast is the Rest-and-be-thankful pass, at the northern end of the mountainous Cowal peninsula.
