A loch in Sutherland, alongside the A838 road 13miles (22 km) southeast of Laxford Bridge.
Loch Merkland gathers numerous small streams, together with the larger Garbh Allt which flows into the middle of the loch from the west.
It casts off the short Merkland River, which flows south to Loch a' Ghriama
