URPoint Details
A spectacular sea loch in the northwest of the Highlands extending from Shiel Bridge to Dornie, it is joined by the beautiful Loch Long and the combined waters then meet to join Loch Alsh.
Beyond Shiel Bridge there are roads on both sides of Loch Duich, the one on the eastern shore proceeds towards Dornie and Kyle of Lochalsh forming part of one of the 'Road to the Isles' and is one of the most beautiful roads in Scotland.
The road on the western side of the loch ends at Totaig and is linked by ferry to the Ardelve side of Dornie Bridge.
A branch to the left off the road leading to Totaig climbs over the steep and narrow Mam Rattachan Pass to Glenelg.
The view from Loch Duich is the fine ridge known as the Five Sisters of Kintail dominated by Scour Ouran at 3,505ft which towers over Glen Shiel.
