Cill Chriosd, Loch A small picturesque loch in Strat Suardal, located at Kilchrist, next to the ruined church of Cill Chriosd, 2 miles (3 km) east of Torrin and 2 miles (4.5 km) southwest of Broadford This shallow reed-encrusted loch lies alongside the B8083 road which connects Broadford with Elgol is noted for its bird-life, including heron, Little Grebe and reed warblers, with over-wintering Whooper Swans. St Columba is said to have chased an evil spirit from the loch in 570 AD, but another in the form of an Each Uisge (WaterHorse) took up residence. This took the form of a handsome man who would seduce passing young women then drown them in the loch.
