A fine Wester Ross sea loch stretching 15 ﾽ miles southeast from the Coigach into the hills that separate Dundonnell and the Inverlael Forests.
Near its mouth stands the small fishing town of Ullapool.
Ben Dearg rises to 3,547ft and dominates the Strath More valley at the head of the loc
To the west of Ullapool across the loch rises Ben Goleach at 2,082ft and beyond lies Little Loch Broom.
