Loch Achtriochtan lies at the heart of GlenCoe, and served by the River Coe, which passes through it.
The Loch lies between the site of the Glencoe massacre and Ossian's Cave.
To the south rise the peaks of the Three Sisters while to the north lies the Aonach Eagachor 'notched ridge'. The village of Glencoe is situated 3 miles (5 km) to the west.
