Llanidloes (pronounced Lannidloyss)
The Plynlimon heights which are the backdrop to this peaceful and quiet little town with its half-timbered market house dating from 1609, is an ideal base for climbers and walkers.
The Old Market Hall is a quaint half-timbered building, the church of St Idloes has a great arcade and a fine hammer-beam roof.
Head towards Machynlleth the road winds over spectacular scenery of the Plynlimon moors and past Llyn Clywedog a six mile long reservoir.
