URPoint Details

A little country village with an attractive main street with several buildings of interest including St Mary's church, Wymondley Hall, to the south is Wymondley Bury, and to the north Wymondley Priory.

Wymondley Bury is a gabled brick building with a moat surrounding it and a gables dovecot in the grounds.

Wymondley Hall is an early 17th century timber-framed house with a six-gabled front and an interesting group of chimneys. It has a large attractive barn with elaborate medieval timbers supporting the tile roof.

Wymondley House is near the west end of the village, two and a half storeys high with five bays and has a cemented front and a porch with Ionic columns.

Wymondly Priory, originally a 13th century Augustinian house is now a farm-house with a few remains of the original arches.

St Mary's church set on a small hill, has a 15th century nave and small tower with an Elizabethan bell, but the rest of the church was added in 1875.
