Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn used to meet here in secret at Blastard's Fee a delightful thatched roof manor on the road to Chelmsford. In 1517 Sir Thomas Boleyn gave Henry VIII his house New Hall in Boreham, which he rebuilt and renamed Beaulieu.
