URPoint Details
The church of St Nicholas has a round Norman tower with a band of arches.
There are two very interesting features one is a monument to Thomas Fitzlucas which was altered in the 17th century to allow a monument to William Crofts to be built, who entertained Charles II and Samuel Pepys. The other more famous item is the Stuart bier with sliding handles which is very rare.
St Nicholas, is one of 38 existing round-tower churches in Suffolk.
